BioFiC-Planta

The BioFiC-Planta line includes several fields of research, mainly addressed to understand the evolutionary history of some groups of plants as well as their genome evolution and the processes involved in it. Palynological, phylogenetic, phylogeographic, population genetics and evo-devo studies join the cytogenetic ones to constitute a multidisciplinary and innovative line.

In this research line we carry out studies about the relationships between people and plants and also on the traditional knowledge about plants in the Catalan language territories. We are conducting ethnofloristic works, with emphasis in medicinal and food plant uses, and we are also performing phytonymic researches. Agroecosystems (mainly homegardens) constitute also our focus in some regions.
